A typical day kiteboarding with the Kitehouse Hatteras... Start
the morning out with a wind and weather check around 9am. If all
is good we meet at the Inn on Pamlico Sound where the boat is docked.
Maybe you are staying there and are enjoying one of the best bed
and breakfast in North Carolina. If not, it is just south of the
town of Buxton, located at the Cape point.
From the dock it is a short motor out to one
of the best learning and riding environments around. Warm, flat
water with sandy bottom as far as you can see. It is here in the
sound where we do all beginner lessons, starting with kite flying
and graduating to body dragging and then board riding. You learn
in ease, almost always able to stand up on the bottom and our customized
chase boat will allow you to concentrate on the skills that we teach
you. No crowd or obstacles,
only you and the kite.
Once
riding, we do long downwinders so you can practice without having
to walk back. Save your energy for riding, since we go out all day
you are going to need it. When you get tired, you can hang in the
boat. Drink some water, eat a lunch then back on the water for another
session.
For intermediate and advanced students these
downwinders will be customized to whatever skill you want to work
on. Going upwind, transitions, jumps, spins, kite loops or anything
else. Our instructors will give you all the tips to make it one
of your best days ever.
Next level... Are you ready for the ocean? Epic
downwinders in the waves or kitesurfaris to sandy islands with nobody
on them. Book your private lesson and go where you want to go and
do what you want to do, just sit back relax and let the Kitehouse
Hatteras take care of you on your kiting vacation.
Ty Luckett
has been involved in the USA kitesurfing industry since its inception.
Long before most of us had ever heard of kitesurfing, he mastered
this new and exciting sport in April of 1998. He also has over twenty
years of windsurfing experience.
Ty was one of the first kiteboarding instructors
in the country. While sponsored by "F-One Kites", he began
"Grab High", a kiteboarding school based in Hatteras.
For years, he taught lessons all over the USA. Ty was the head instructor
at Kiteboarding Hatteras, a flight instructor with a commercial
pilot's license and is a sponsored rider for Cabrinha.
Paul and Ty met an became friends in 1998, and
have helped changed the world of kiteboarding as it is today.
The Kite House and Kite Hatteras have formed this working partnership,
So when the summer hits Florida, The Kite House hits North Carolina,
which is Ty's home. It all works out great, because then the winter
brings Ty and Kite Hatteras to Paul's home. So this gives you the
combo of great knowledge and areas all year long.
